50 Days

Well, it has been 50 days since I decided to start the annual reading plan. Things are going great and I am right on schedule, though I must confess, there have been a few times that I’ve skipped a day here and there and spent a few days here and there reading more than one day to keep up!

It’s amazing how Gods Word speaks to you, no matter what you are reading and where you are in your life! I guess that’s why the Word says it is “living and active!”

Why is Trusting So Scary?

The Israelites said, “Why didn’t God let us die in comfort in Egypt where we had lamb stew and all the bread we could eat? You’ve brought us out into this wilderness to starve us to death, the whole company of Israel!”

When I read this I thought about how ironic it was. The Israelites were basically saying they would rather live in bondage and know where the next meal was coming from than live in freedom and trust God to provide for them. Did they actually enjoy the bondage and slavery and hard work they had to do for someone else, or was it really that hard to trust God? No doubt . . . It’s difficult sometimes!

I hope I never settle for the bondage and the safety of the mundane when I know God may be calling me to another level of living that requires trust and living in the unknown. This is actually a pretty scary thing to even write! I wonder what God is up to in my life . . . and in your life?

3 Weeks In & Right on Track!

I’m amazed at how many times you can read something or do something over and over, and then do it again and see or experience something new! God’s Word is like that for me. I’ve read the Bible through a few times, I’ve studied it in college, I’ve taught from it for years and then you sit down and read something that you’ve read MANY times before and you see something you’ve never seen and get it in a way that you never got it before! I’m amazed at the freshness of the Word of God, almost every time I pick it up and read it! I hope you will join me on this journey of allowing God’s Word to shape us and help us become more like the person He intended us t be! By the way, I started reading on December 15th and am right on schedule!

I am using my phone and iPad to read through the Bible and am using the Bible from www.youversion.com It’s free, it’s got lots of plans and helps you keep track of where you are! You can load it on your phone, computer, iPad, home computer, and it syncs between all your devices! Check it out!

Accountability is a Good Thing . . . Right?

Over the years I have read through the Bible a few times and it has always been an amazing experience. I think it has probably been a couple of years since I read through the whole Bible, so I feel like I need to do it again, so one of the goals I am setting for 2011 is to read through the Bible. I’m gonna post insights here as they come. Hopefully it will encourage someone else, but I’m doing it to help me be accountable and to grow and be obedient to the Lord. I’d love to hear any comments you have or insights you get as well!
